              New book related to AI: Valuing News: Digital Platforms and Journalism Futures

A new book edited by Terry Flew, Agata Stepnik, Timothy Koskie explores news's value as both a commodity and a public good at the consumer, citizen and institutional level. It also investigates the impact of generative AI on the news media production and distribution ecosystem. Dr Merja Myllylahti has written a chapter Mapping How Generative AI May Determine the Value of News in Fragmented and Fiercely Competitive Media Markets to the book. The chapter evaluates what is the real monetary value of AI to news publishers.

JMAD's Merja Myllylahti recently presented two papers related to AI at the AANZCA conference in Sunshine Coast, Australia. One was titled It is not just Google AI that is crushing the search, the nature of it is also changing and other News, AI, and the Future of Journalism.
