Our trust in news project is the only project in New Zealand that maps trust in news with internationally comparable data.

JMAD produced its first Trust in News in Aotearoa New Zealand report in 2020. Since then we have conducted four surveys about trust in news and news brands in New Zealand. The latest report is published in April 2023.

We conduct our reports in collaboration with the Reuters Institute of Study of Journalism (University of Oxford). Our research is internally funded and it has ethical approval from the AUT Ethics committee.

The 5th trust report is published in April 2024

The latest report is publicly and freely available here in April 2024 and you can find the related press release on the news section.
